My April 12 bride!
Erin is beautiful, and she’s marrying just the right guy, Josh. Erin has come to me from a line of referrals, which just proves that with excellent service, consistent and beautiful work comes the rewards of additional clientele.
This portrait was made in my Raleigh studio/gallery and combines natural sunlight and artificial illumination. I had the portrait finished in virtual oils. It’s been mounted on canvas and is actually available for viewing at my studio! Call me if you would like to see it, or talk with me about photographing your special event.
TTFN!

Sarah P. Duke Gardens
The Wisteria on the gazebo isn’t blooming, yet. However, the oriental garden was stunning, as was Stephanie. I’ve posted some of her session previously, and thought I would include these lovely images we captured. Stephanie commented to me that I really helped her relax. She thought this session would be the most stressful, but I was helping it to be one of the most enjoyable activities she’s done associated with her wedding.
All in a day’s work, I say. If you aren’t enjoying your portrait session, it’s a pretty good bet you may have the wrong photographer. Just my humble opinion. And we know how many opinions are floating around out there!

Kate and John. She’s cute, he’s pretty darned funny.
John proposed to Kate at the mall! Yes, folks, the mall. The man was shopping with his woman, and then he whipped out the diamond and committed to a life of shopping bliss. Er, wedded bliss!
I am SO HAPPY I get to hold the camera! I have the best view ever!
And then she made him chase her a little…
Passion is hard to disguise. The best compliment I ever get is when my people forget I’m there, and they just love each other.
This looks like a happy man.

Want a little Glamour?
Here’s a few shots of Carrie and Marc, who were married in the fall of 2007. I love revisiting my old wedding pictures and having some fun. With the blog, now I can show all of you what I’m doing!
I’m also going to take this opportunity to push the idea of a “reveal”. Carrie and Marc were married around 6 p.m. After the ceremony, it was DARK! They agreed that a pre-Ceremony portrait session would truly suit them. Look at the gorgeous light! It was so nice, too, because they could visit in private with one another, and tell each other how luscious they look!
Marc told me that seeing Carrie at the garden didn’t detract in his joy and awe at seeing her come down the aisle to him in the church later that same day.
Sometimes you want to be glamorous. I can help you with that. Carrie and Marc were my perfect “glamorous” couple. They obviously felt strongly for each other, and I’m happy that I was there to capture their feelings permanently on film for them!!!

Death of a tulip
We finally received much needed rain. Unfortunately, it spelled the death of my Darwin’s Tulips. If you have a certain perspective, you can find beauty wherever it may be.

The rewards of diet and exercise
This definitely is NOT me! I prefer my snackies while sitting in front of my Mac, and retouching portraits like this! It is awe-inspiring to think that a normal human being can sculpt themselves into a living work of art.

OMG! I am NOT shaking this cold!
It’s been just ages! since I’ve posted. March has flown by on the wings of eagles. Started out with my North Carolina State Professional Photographers’ convention, followed immediately by my all-time favorite conference, WPPI. (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) That’s where I go to see what’s new, and cool on the album and printing scene. I have about one zillion photographs to upload, and am experimenting with galleries, so please be patient and if any of you know how to do this and are willing to trade out - Call me!!! In the meantime, here’s a photo from early spring at the residential gallery.

I’m so sick, but I can still smell the flowers.
Thank you, Lord! The whites in the daffodil remind me of wedding finery. I can’t help it! I have a one-track mind. (smile)

I visited the Old Well in Chapel Hill today.
I photographed this young lady for another photog. I am certainly glad that I took on the assignment! I met Laura and her family at the Forest Theater in Chapel Hill. It’s about a block from the Old Well and just a wonderful and quiet spot to indulge in environmental photography.
Laura wanted “fun” and “spontaneous” portraiture, yet when I looked at the mermaid-style dress I couldn’t do anything but help Laura channel her inner Greta Garbo! Enjoy.

WPPI was awesome!
Wedding and Portrait Photographers, International. What a great group! I was able to refresh, refine and redefine my vision. The end result is that YOU will be the beneficiary. Learned lots of good stuff and am happy I went. Here’s a few shots of the plane ride into Salt Lake City, Utah.
